Where did that name come from?

I get this question...a lot. 

Where did that name come from? Malisay? Is that your name?

Back in 2003, when my husband and I first started dating, he called me Malisay. It was his little twist on my actual name, Melissa. When I would call him on the phone, he would answer, "What's up Malisay?" It was cute and sweet. 

When I decided to turn my craft into a business, I brainstormed pages and pages of business name ideas. For weeks I brainstormed. Jarrod's only input was "Just call it Malisay." And every time he suggested it, my only reply was "That's ridiculous." After weeks, many weeks, of brainstorming, it always came back to Malisay. 

I started to write it down on paper, on projects, on a website...every where I could think to write it, to see what it looked like and what it felt like when I saw and heard it.

It's the ONLY idea that felt right and sounded right. 

So, yeah, I guess it IS my name. 

I am malisay but you can call me Melissa.
